Ellie & Peyton’s Iowa Summer Backyard Tent Wedding Day

Down a winding, gravel road in small town Iowa, Ellie + Peyton gathered all their favorite humans to celebrate their wedding day. As you drove down the long road leading to Hickory Terrance, you could see rolling farmland, the most peaceful cows meandering that land, beautiful tall trees, and finally the flags atop the tent where the big party would be taking place. The weather that week had been excessively hot, reaching highs of 95 degrees (uncharacteristically hot for mid September in Iowa) but the heat broke to a healthy 80 degrees just in time for Ellie + Peyton’s day. The stars aligned over and over again for these two’s beautiful day.

I could talk on and on about their day, but I really wanted to highlight how truly PERSONAL their whole day was. Every single detail was so intentional — their day felt like THEM through and through. Following their first look, the two of them sat down to read their vows to one another. While this alone is sweet and intimate, the extra detail that they incorporated was sitting on a quilt made by Ellie’s grandma while they shared this moment. Oh, and the ice cream cart? The business is owned by Ellie’s dad, and they MADE the cart just for their wedding day. The old truck that Ellie + Peyton took photos with? Peyton’s old truck from high school that he recently bought back from the family he had sold it to years ago. The banner on Peyton’s truck that reads “I’ll love ya til my lungs give out”? A DIY project by Ellie. The delicious dessert? A nod to Peyton’s childhood, a classic sweets spread from his hometown’s bakery. Seriously, I could go on and on and on with all the fun and unique touches. :’)
