What’s in My Camera Bag? 10 Things I Carry with Me as a Photographer

Over the years, I’ve narrowed down a pretty good list of what I like/ need to bring with me to all my adventurous sessions with couples, families, on wedding days, etc.. If you’ve ever wondered what was in that trusty bag of mine (what gear I use and tools for getting that filmy look) you’ve come to the right place! Here are a few of the thing I carry with me during all my sessions in no particular order :)

1. Two Canon 5D Mark IV camera bodies - I always have both bodies on me on wedding days. I use two different lenses throughout the day, and it's always important to me to have two just in case one would malfunction in the middle of an important moment. I HIGHLY recommend this to other photographers if possible

2. 35 1.4 mm lens - I use this lens 90% of the time on a wedding day, and 99.99% of the time during engagement or other portrait shoots. It’s pretty great in my opinion :)

3. 50 1.4 mm lens - I use this lens for most ceremonies and receptions so I don't have to get as close to the subjects as I would with the 35 mm.

4. 24-105 mm lens - Honestly, this lens came with one of my camera bodies. I keep it on hand as a "in case of emergencies" lens. When it comes to documenting really important moments for people it’s never a bad thing to have extra!

5. Godox V860 II External Flash - LOVE this flash. Other flashes I've used constantly misfired, and if you're a photographer you know how touchy flashes can be. I've used this flash as my primary flash for 2+ years and have never had issues with it!

6. Canon speedlite external flash - My backup flash. Always have backups for everything, y'all!!!

7. 10 camera batteries - I use anywhere from 2-5 batteries on a wedding day, and like to have extras just in case -- even just to have them for my second shooter or anyone else that may need a backup battery! You can’t go wrong with keeping 7-10 fully charged batteries on hand

8. 64 GB SD and CF extreme pro memory cards - I bring lots of extras, but usually two 64 gb cards per wedding day is perfect!

9. Ziploc bags and pantyhose - This is one of the most random and fun things I always carry in my camera bag! I use these to get "artsy" during a wedding day or shoot. I put them over my lens to play with some faux filmy vibes - I’m a little obsessed with how these photos tend to turn out.

10. Double camera harness - My husband gifted me with a leather double camera harness he found on etsy 2 years ago and I've used it every shoot/wedding day since. It’s super nice when your using your hands for lots of different things. Would highly recommend a double if you're shooting weddings!
