Kyndal Elise Photography: The Relaunch is here!

So I’m sure plenty of you are thinking, “why in the world does Kyndal think it’s so important and celebratory that she rebranded?” Don’t worry y’all. I’m about to walk you through all the what why’s and how’s, and you’ll see EXACTLY why I’m so jazzed! Before I dive in, I wanted to shout out Sydney of Terrae Creative Co, my brand + web designer! She did an amazing job of showing off who I am in my brand, and the process was super laid back which was EXACTLY what I needed! More on that process later. :)

WHY I DECIDED TO REBRAND:

At the end of September I attended the West Arrow Workshop, and one of the topics that was touched upon was branding and websites. At this point in my photography career, I was feeling very confident about where my business was going. The only thing that felt like it wasn’t keeping up with me was my website. I created it myself when I first started in the summer of 2018, and it was an old template that used to house my college portfolio + blog. I simply swapped things out, added some pages, moved things around to kinda look like other websites I’d seen, and then my older sister (who is also a graphic designer!) went in and put the final touches on it to really clean it up. Throughout the years, I’d swap out certain colors, update the photos and other info, but I struggled with making it feel cohesive and professional.

Now that I’m 2.5 years into my photography business, I understand a few things: my ideal client, my photography style, my editing style, and the type of photo opportunities I love the most. All those things have changed DRASTICALLY since I first started! I am now focusing solely on intimate weddings, elopements, destinations, and adventurous couples. Now that I fully understand who I am and what I want my business to be, it was time to match my website + branding to those same things.

I have a good handle on general style things and of course knew where I wanted my website + branding to go, but I had no idea where to start or HOW to actually put my visions into reality.

HOW THE REBRAND + WEBSITE PROCESS WENT:

Let’s talk about my girl Sydney again! Sydney and I are from the same hometown and went to the same college. I did some brand photos for her a little over a year ago, so I’ve been following her and her business journey for a while now! When I was thinking of who to hire to design my website + brand, I wanted to work with a fellow female small business owner from Central Iowa. Shop local y’all. ;) I inquired with Sydney in early October and haven’t looked back since!

We started by figuring out my brand vision, audience, brand tone + keywords, and then we moved into the fun stuff. She put together three different logo design directions, we talked through the pros and cons of each, adjusted, narrowed down again, and finally selected the logos we moved forward with. Sydney then put together a color palette, fonts, and fun patterns for my brand. All of these steps included feedback from my end — nothing moved ahead without my approval first, which really made the process feel very customized and like she really was creating my brand around me! The package I went with included collateral items, such as social media templates and a brand new welcome guide (which I’m STOKED to offer to my couples now!)

Once all the pretty stuff was set up and ready to go, we moved on to website design. Again, from beginning to end, Sydney offered advice and suggestions, but ultimately left a lot of things up to me. She took care of all the technical stuff that’s waaaayyyyy over my head (lol) and we now have this beautiful website you’re hanging out on right now!

In summary, working with Sydney was SO FUN and SO RELAXED. These are two things that I reaaaaally needed in a web + brand designer! I knew I didn’t want this process to add stress to my life, as I decided to start this project in the middle of busy season (lol oops), and I kid you not, every notification I got from Sydney with new materials to review made me SO EXCITED. She was so flexible and willing to communicate via email, phone call or in person meetings, all depending on what worked best for me. I cannot say enough good things about the whole process!!!

WHAT DOES THE RELAUNCH MEAN

When I decided to redesign my website + brand, I knew this would be the perfect time to do a complete business relaunch. This means I’m offering different services, including different things in my packages, etc. So… here’s what the relaunch means for Kyndal Elise Photography!

I’ll be stepping away from things outside of weddings + couples! I’ve been offering everyyyyyything under the moon since I started this business in August of 2018, and have decided to lean 100% into the genre of photography that makes me the happiest and who I believe I serve best! I’ll be focusing all my energy on creating an amazing experience for my weddings, elopements, destinations, and couples clients! I’m SO EXCITED for this step in my business. Saying no to things that don’t fill my cup leaves more room for those things that make me overflow!

I’ll be focusing more of my time on education for engaged couples + fellow photographers! I’ve got a lot of tips and tricks running around in my brain, being that I’m a newlywed wedding photographer, and I’m so excited to start sharing all of my advice based on real life experiences ASAP!

I’ll also be focusing more on incorporating travel into my business. Anyone that knows me knows that travel + photography are my two loves, and I’m determined to combine both of those loves into my business more regularly!

I’m so excited that my relaunch is officially public! I can’t wait to see what this year + beyond brings for KEP!

Xo, Kyndal Elise
