Jeno Family Session - Documenting Love Story Milestones
I'm a big believer in documenting the milestones, big and small. Something I'm super passionate about is continuing to work with people from their engagement, to their wedding day, to the next sweet steps of maternity, welcoming babies, and family sessions after that. One of the reasons I love being a photographer is the opportunity to document life and tell a story -- and it's so fun to document ALL the stages of someone's love story as it grows with you!
Maternity and family sessions used to be so stiff and traditional, but nowadays people are really having fun with them. I love taking the sweet and intimate feel of the engagement or wedding day, and shifting it into the next chapter: families!
Honestly, I didn't always feel that way though. Until last year, I said no to family work, but since being pregnant and having my own baby my mindset has definitely changed. I now see the magic of it all -- how I can still photograph the way I like to with couples, but apply to families. Since getting married, my husband has come to expect an average of 2 photo sessions a year for us *hahaha. Now that Sloane is here, photo sessions are even more sought after! When I was little, one of my favorite things was sifting through old photo books and seeing moments from when I was little, when my siblings were little, when my parents were vacationing as newlyweds, and so on. The generations before us were SO good about documenting milestones through photo and video, putting together photo albums and having home video recordings -- and I want us to be the generation that keeps up with that momentum!! I can't wait to page through photos with my kiddos someday too. I stand by the point that you'll never regret documenting allllllllllll the things!
For these reasons and many more, the Jeno family session was such a memorable and special one to shoot! Madi is a fellow photographer and good friend of mine. Her and her husband welcomed their first baby, little Novera Fern, in April of this year. They wanted to document their little growing family, so they reached out to me to do a newborn mini session. They wanted to keep things easy and simple, so we literally shot in my backyard!! I put up a white bed sheet on my fence, threw some blankets on the ground, and collected some pampas grass from around my house. We spent about 15 minutes just photographing their sweet pea and soaking in this stage in her life and these were the results:
Seriously, you’ll never regret documenting your love story as it grows with you and I cannot say it enough. If you’re looking for that intimate shoot to document milestones or new chapters so you can cherish them forever, I think we’d be a rad fit ;) Regardless, I hope this encourages you to soak up each stage as they come in this crazy thing called life.
