My Top 4 Favorite Unique Engagement Session Ideas

I think it's so fun to put a little creativity into your engagement session because I truly believe going above and beyond is nothing short of appropriate when you're marrying your bff. ;) Take this opportunity to have fun with it and really tell the story of you and your honey! It doesn't need to be elaborate -- I just think it's so cool to incorporate locations or activities that are true to you two as a couple. Whether it's using your favorite place to go on walks as a backdrop, or hitting up the local arcade bar, the personal touch is what makes it unique! Here’s my top 4 favorite ideas to make your engagement session extra special:

1.The first ideas I love to include is incorporating your favorite brewery or coffee shop, pizza place, etc. What's your go to date night? Whatever it may be, let’s tie that in to your engagement session! This makes the session all the more personal and sentimental to you two as a couple :) And it makes for a fun date night -- who said engagement sessions had to be boring?!

**Molly + Ray: these two picked Barn Town Brewing for the second half of their engagement session which is where they both work!

2.Another route I'm loving is setting up a picnic comprised of your favorite things. Again, hit up your favorite food place on the way to your engagement session, bring a six pack or a bottle of wine, and let's document a true date night for the two of you!

**Kenlyn + Robby: they spend a lot of time at this park, and almost chose it as the location for their wedding day!

3. Pick a place that just makes sense. One of my favorite engagement sessions I've ever shot started at an art gallery, then downtown where we shot in a tavern and a hotel lobby, then we ended on top of a parking garage with the city as a back drop. That session turned out SO COOL and so unique, and each spot just made SENSE for this rad couple. I think I took 2000 photos that day hahahaha! All this to say, if you’re thinking about going for something different, GO FOR IT! I’m down for it all :)

**Allee + Tyler: they're the art gallery + parking garage couple -- so fricken cool

4.Lastly, I love a good park, but it's super fun to incorporate unique indoor locations. Greenhouses, botanical gardens, the local tiki bar, a hotel, etc. all make for super cool photo locations!

**Kelly + Paul: Botanical Garden Engagement with my associate!

To my engaged couples looking to make their engagement session super special or my photographer friends looking for unique session ideas, I hope this helped give you the vision to ditch the boring standard and make your engagement session yours own!! :)
